Manufactured homes are housing units that use pre-fabricated structures that are assembled in factories and then transported to their sites. According to the “2020 Manufactured Housing Facts Industry Overview” released by the Manufactured Housing Institute, 22 million Americans live in manufactured homes as of May 2020. The report also added that 90 percent of these people are satisfied with their homes, and that 71 percent of them said that affordability is the primary indicator for choosing manufactured homes.
The report said that across the US, 32 corporations are engaged in the business of manufacturing homes, and that cumulatively, these corporations operate 129 manufacturing plants across the mainland. In 2019, these plants have produced a total of 94,615 homes and were delivered in home sites, which are estimated to be at 4.2 million, according to the report.
On the other hand, in the “Manufactured Housing Market Overview” published by Allied Market Research, the global market of manufactured homes was valued at $27,188 million in 2019. At a compound annual growth rate of 6.5 per cent, the market would be valued at $38,848 million by 2027. The report also added that manufactured homes will emerge as the primary alternative in solving the issue of quality and affordable homes worldwide.
