Buying A Mobile Home

A recent Farmington, New Mexico resident with an extensive real estate background, Drita Bronkey serves as a consultant with Zemer Property Management Consultants (ZPMC). In this role, Drita Bronkey is in charge of a region that encompasses various mobile home park communities around the state.

Mobile homes are ideal for individuals looking for more affordable yet durable homes that are below the market value of permanent homes in their locations. Mobile homes typically cost less per unit space compared to temporary structures. They can also be transported to mobile parks or separate pieces of land.

Despite their low acquisition costs, mobile homes are built to be as durable as other home types. These homes are manufactured in controlled environments and meet some mandatory specifications enforced by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This is especially true for mobile homes that were built after 1976.

While they are affordable options, mobile homes may not be good investment vehicles. If the goal is to invest in a property for future appreciation purposes, mobile homes may not be ideal since they are different from real properties. After leaving the manufacturing facility, mobile homes typically depreciate in value when they begin to serve as homes.
